After witnessing first-hand, the debacle that is the Jive. Then going on to read bad reviews all-around of both, the Wish and the Gala. I was beginning to despair that one of my favorite sex toy brands may have already reached its pinnacle. With only one way left to go, and we all know that is down, in a rapidly descending death spiral.

Whilst all I could do is wring my hands and watch helplessly from the sidelines.

It just so happens, this is one of the times that I am delighted that I was wrong. With the release of this 10th-Anniversary Set, We-Vibe managed to gain redemption. They’ve made what was a great toy, the Tango, even better.

So how does one manage to improve upon one of the most widely loved and easily recognized bullet vibrators on the market?

A Better Way to Tango

If you want to know the truth, I wasn’t sure that it could be done. Not that I’m entirely convinced this is what We-Vibe set out to do with the release of its 10th-Anniversary Set in the first place.

Whether they did or didn’t, is a topic that’s up for debate. I’m only here to state that it is, in fact, something that was accomplished with the invention of a storage slash charging case for the Tango.

You presumably already know how much I cherish the powerful workhorse of the We-Vibe brand. That which is their rechargeable, bullet vibrator, the Tango.

I probably mention it way too much, as it is.

We-Vibe Anniversary Set

Still, for those of you who remain wholly unconvinced by all the online hype, I bet the Tango looks just as visually unimpressive and ineffectual at producing orgasms as it ever has. I can understand your hesitancy to jump aboard the Tango party train.

The Tango’s simple design disguises the truth of what this toy is capable of. On the whole, there’s not a lot to see. The Tango is genuinely not much larger than a tube of lipstick. Measuring in at only 5″ in length, with just eight speeds and no obvious bells or whistles. All of this makes it an easy toy to underestimate.

However, if there’s one thing that I’ve learned over the past couple of years spent reviewing sex toys, it’s that looks can be deceiving. This is one of those cases. Believe it or not, the tiny Tango packs a seriously mighty wallop. Concealing a thunderous degree of rumble below its Plain-Jane bullet vibe façade.

I’d almost even be willing to wager that this 10th Anniversary version is just a hair more powerful than all my other Tangos. Despite the fact that I’ve thoroughly investigated, and can find no mention of the inclusion of a stronger motor in the 10th-Anniversary Tango, anywhere.

It could also be just as likely that what I’m noticing is nothing more than the consequence of my brand-new Tango possessing a fresh, fully charged battery. I can’t be 100% sure either way, but I am still reasonably confident I can distinguish a slight uptick in strength when comparing this Tango to all my others. (Especially with regards to the highest setting) When technically speaking, I guess I shouldn’t be.

Just In Case

While a slight boost in power is something I can always appreciate, the thing that has me the most “caught up” about the 10th Anniversary Set is the nifty, new charging case. It’s the icing on the cake for this sex geek slash organizational freak. But, the cherry on top, is that the storage case doubles as a charging station.

For the longest time, well, I guess really since its release, and often recited criticism among even the most faithful of Tango fans was the toy’s relentlessly faulty and unreliable magnetic charging connection.

This charging case decisively, once and for all, remedies this long decried issue.

By the way, a little-known hack is to hang the Tango upside down from its cord. This ensures a better connection between the vibrator and its magnetic charging port and prevents it from being dislodged quite as easily. (A tip I learned courtesy of Girly Juice.)

Okay, let’s get to the specifics of that remarkable, new storage case. The outside of the case is a matte-grey that opens up to a glossy, white plastic tray. With recesses for docking both, the Sync and the Tango. And space for the Sync’s remote control. I’m sad to report there is no lock or latch, it merely closes shut.

As you’d expect, the case’s charging points are magnetic, and you’ll hear and feel a satisfying click to alert you that both the Tango and Sync are each respectively locked into place. And you’ll see a blinking light on each toy notifying you that each is actively charging.

You’ll also notice an orange indicator light on the front of the storage case blinking until the toys inside are fully charged. After they are, it remains steady.

This dual-purpose, storage case is every dedicated Tango devotee’s wet dream. My only wish is that it was reverse-compatible like it is with the Sync. Sadly it isn’t, and trust me, I’ve tried. I was rather annoyed to discover the magnetic, contact points are closer together on this version of the Tango.

So don’t dare think, (like I did,) that you can buy this set and charge any old Tango with it. Nope, it won’t work. It works only with the one included in the 10th Anniversary Set. That’s a real bummer, I know.

All Glammed Up!

We-Vibe Anniversary Set Sync & TangoIt’s We-Vibe’s 10th Anniversary and the Sync and the Tango got dressed up for the occasion. Both come in limited edition colors.

After viewing them in person, I can’t decide which is better, the case or the colors! The colors that We-Vibe used in this celebratory 10th-Anniversary Set are epic!

The shiny, sleek ABS plastic of the Tango comes in a shade of periwinkle, with just a light kiss of glittering sparkles. The Sync, on the other hand, is unlike any mass-produced sex toy I have ever laid eyes on. It’s an enchanting shade of iridescent blue. Honestly, it’s one of the loveliest colors I’ve ever seen a mass-produced, silicone vibrator come in. The silicone continuously shimmers back in forth between an indigo-blue and a rich blue-violet. All dependant upon the lighting and where the light strikes the toy.

In Sync

While the Tango and I go way back, I’d never had the chance to try any of We-Vibe’s wearable vibrators. Much less, the ultra swanky, uber-expensive Sync. And let’s be real here, after my first encounter with a wearable, “couples toy,” the Satisfyer Whale, went awry; leaving me with an aching vag for nearly a week… Inevitably, I wasn’t too keen on the idea of testing the Sync.

I envisioned having to endure an unpleasant repeat of past events. Fearing the Sync’s inner arm would jab painfully into the anterior wall of my vagina like that awful toy, the Whale, did.

I worried it was going to be awkward, or worse yet, quite likely even painful for my vag to house both the Sync and my partner’s penis.

I was relieved to discover that the Sync is an entirely different species from the Satisfyer Whale. Worlds apart, in fact. I found I can amply and quite comfortably accommodate both the Sync and my partner’s penis. Where with the Whale I could only tolerate a few short strokes of PIV due to the amount of discomfort I was enduring before I’d cry uncle and have to yank it out to get some relief. The Sync doesn’t overwhelm or distract, it is less obvious, more of an enhancement. In fact, this time, my partner and I both found it pleasurable.

In stark contrast to the Whale, the Sync fits snugly, yet comfortably, and better still, the Sync’s clitoral arm motor is surprisingly robust. (It could still be a little stronger.) It’s strong enough to get me off. Even during partnered PIV sex.

That’s saying a lot right there! We all know I have a hypercritical clit and it takes some pretty strong vibes to get me there.

What really caught me off guard, though, was that I didn’t need to use my hands at all. Not even to press the clit vibe down and apply the pressure I customarily prefer. This was a happy surprise, one I really wasn’t expecting that at all.

Truth be told, I really wasn’t expecting a whole hell of a lot from the Sync. Yet, it has surprisingly managed to renew my faith in the possibilities of wearable vibrators. Reversing all the doubts I held after enduring the Jive and the Whale.

As for the Sync’s remote control, and its capacity to be controlled by the We-Vibe We-Connect app, I found they both worked well for me. As you know, I’m not gung-ho about the whole app-controlled “thing.” Honestly, wearable vibrators are one of the only instances where I can discern a legitimate need for a remote method of control. We-Vibe Anniversary

I personally prefer the remote over the We-Connet app. Although, I do understand the relevance of each one. Both the remote and the app have a distinct purpose. The We-Connect app was designed with long-distance relationships in mind. With the purpose to allow partners a way to play together, even if they are hundreds of miles apart.

Yeah, living in the future is pretty amazing.
