Have you silently longed for a vibrator with some personality amidst the sea of nondescript, terminally blah, silicone designs? Or maybe you’ve secretly yearned for that “one special toy” to express your high-femme affections for sparkle and shine? Well then, allow me to introduce you to ZALO, a sex toy brand, that adorns all of their toys with a touch of glitz.

ZALO Violet Courage base Swarovski crystal embedded control leverThe Courage is a G-spot vibrator from ZALO’s Sweet Magic series. A line of pastel-hued, self-heating vibrators, and thrusters that are perfectly suited for use as props in all of your Sailor Moon fantasies.

You’ll notice right away that the Courage stays true to the traditional G-spot silhouette, with its approachable 1.5-inches of width, and gentle up swung tip. A tip, that either, love it or hate it, sports a 360° flexible bend. Myself, I favor solid unyielding pressure when we’re talking about G-spot stimulation.

ZALO glammed up the Courage by embedding an exquisite little Swarovski crystal in the toy’s star-shaped, control arm. This arm/lever thingamajig serves as the toy’s one and only control mechanism. You’ll find it encircled by an elegant loop of gilded plastic that doubles as the toy’s base.

I was astounded to learn, this tiny, little lever acts as the toy’s central command center. It’s used to turn the vibrator on and off, to scroll through the Courage’s eight vibrational modes, and to engage and disengage the toy’s self-heating feature. It took me several minutes of fumbling around to figure out how to turn the damned thing on. I kept flipping it over and over looking for a more obvious button. Durr. *dramatic facepalm*

This method of control is a considerable deviation from more conventional methods, or at least, the ones I’ve grown accustomed to using. And at first, I found the tiny star-shaped arm a tad awkward to use. But eventually, I acclimated to its tactile feel and learned the prescribed amount of pressure necessary to shift through the toy’s settings. My only concern is that this lever could easily be broken off if too much pressure is applied to it, causing the toy to become inoperable.

I withstood another massive shock to my system when I first discovered the Courage has only two steady modes. No, I’m not kidding, I wish I were. Again, I was completely befuddled and thought for sure that I must be mistaken, as I stood toy in hand, scrolling through the settings over and over. Until finally, the gravity of the situation had finally hit me.

This was really happening! I could hardly believe it.

Two steady speeds! That’s almost unheard of nowadays. So let me get this straight, there are only two measly steady vibrations, as opposed to six patterned ones? What kind of nonsense is this? If it had been the other way around, I’d be totally down with it.

Speaking of vibrations, I’ve spent a lot of time analyzing the Courage’s two steady vibrations against the handful of G-spot vibrators I own, and I’ve judged them to rank reasonably close to the We-Vibe Rave. That’s a shocker, I realize, but don’t get too excited, not just yet. Yes, the Courage’s vibrations certainly have a hint of rumble to them. The only problem is the flexible silicone neck deadens them immensely. Enough to where it takes quite a while for me to reach orgasm when using this toy externally. And, internally the dampening effect is even worse. In that scenario, the vibrations are watered down to a paltry buzz.

As for the self-heating feature, the Courage only heats up to body temperature, and even then it’s concentrated exclusively in the tip. For me, this feature didn’t have enough of an impact to affect my pleasure response. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong, here, but wouldn’t any toy that is inserted for a long enough time eventually absorb enough body heat to reach ambient body temperature? I’d rather the toy have been fully waterproof and forgone the self-heating mode.

All in all, I wouldn’t classify the Courage as a lousy toy, per se. Instead, it is what I’d designate as a mid-range offering. It just doesn’t have enough juice for me to be blown away by it, but it certainly has enough to get the job done.

Should you decide to purchase the ZALO Courage, just know that you’re essentially sacrificing power for presence. As long as you’re aware of that and one-hundred percent okay with it, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
