Do you ever get the urge to simply spoil yourself? Well, when or if the mood should strike, incredibly, you now have the option to treat yourself to a die-cast aluminum bullet vibrator. FemmeFunn’s Bougie Bullet is what I believe sophistication personified in the construction of a posh, bullet vibe (that comes with its very own color-coordinated case) might look like.
Or in other words, this vibe is super-duper fancy.
In case you hadn’t noticed from earlier posts where I practically drool at the mere mention of them, I have what I consider to be a tiny preoccupation with sex toys that come pre-outfitted with custom charging cases. It’s the standard or the bare minimum qualification for any toy to be imagined as “lavish” by me.
The inclusion of an “upscale-appearing” charging station legitimately gets my juices flowing. No matter how much of an afterthought they turn out to be. Not a lot gets me as charged up as the possibility of reviewing a toy that comes with a spiffy color-coordinated charging case. And if it doubles as a storage container, even better!
Just thinking about it sets my heart racing.
The Bougie Bullet does not disappoint in that area. It arrives with an impressive monogrammed, double-slotted, foam-lined storage/charging case. In addition to donning a tailored-to-fit space for the toy itself to rest snuggly, the case also thoughtfully incorporates a slot for the charging cable to live when it’s not in use.
Speaking of charging cables, this is where were the Bougie Bullet racks up triple bonus points with me. I deeply appreciate that I can choose to charge the bullet while it’s resting inside the storage case. Or choose to charge it with the magnetic cable attached directly to the toy. Personally, I’m more inclined to use the storage case, but it’s nice to know I have options.
Enough about the swanky case, let’s move on to the toy and its overall effectiveness at producing orgasms.
For those of you who are out there wondering, the Bougie Bullet’s external casing is fashioned from a single, seamless piece of a matte-finished, anodized aluminum. I can’t find even the tiniest hint of a seam for genital gunk to potentially build up and become lodged. Ick! This is a massive plus in when it comes to easy cleaning and safe and definitive sanitation.
Although you’ve probably already inferred this by now, through logical deduction. The aluminum shell clearly translates into a noticeable increase in this vibrator’s overall heft. While this is not an overtly bad thing, it does cause the Bougie Bullet to become a bit of an outlier where other bullet vibrators are concerned. By nature of being a bullet vibrator alone, it would ordinarily be on the lighter side of sex toys.
On the other hand, the inclusion of this metallic shell gives rise to an exciting new feature; (which was at first completely overlooked by me,)the introduction of temperature play. The addition of a highly conductive shell injects an up until now, little-explored element into the world of bullet vibes. It swings wide open the door to temperature play to the notoriously dull and boring genre of bullet vibrators.
Yep, as a metallic-shelled, waterproof bullet, it can be quickly be dipped into either a cup of chilled or heated water. Which almost instantly brings the aluminum shell to your preferred temperature. This is a feature no other bullet vibe, I can think of at the moment, can compete against.
Other noteworthy features include both, a boost button and a standby mode. The boost button is designated by a brightly lit pink, lightning bolt. Once it’s engaged the motor promptly kicks up to the highest steady speed for ten consecutive seconds. Once this ten-second interval is concluded the motor reverts back to the setting previously in use. This function is an easy way to speedily bypass shifting through all twenty of the Bougie Bullets speeds to get to the highest steady.
FemmeFunn, like most brands, is guilty of overkill where patterns are concerned. The Bougie Bullet comes equipped with seventeen patterns, ( yikes!) versus only three measly steady speeds. I mean, patterns are lovely and all, but I’ve yet to run into anyone that choose their vibrator based on the number of patterns it possesses alone. I suppose manufacturers imagine it looks impressive touted as a “special feature” when printed on the outside of the toy’s packaging. I dunno know, *shrugs* beats me?
Standby mode is another unique function specific to the Bougie Bullet. An uncommon feature to be sure, but one I heartily approve. Here’s how it works. When switched on the bullet automatically goes into standby mode. So the toy is technically powered on, but the motor remains inactive until I choose to initiate the vibrations, by pressing the Standby-button. A button that is indicated by a lighted blue mirror-imaged F. (Again, FemmeFunn’s monogram.) Now, this is a feature I’d like to see more.
As for the Bougie Bullet’s effectiveness at producing orgasms, it manages to get the job done. I would say this toy is an excellent choice for those who find the hard-hitting vibrations of the Tango or the sheer brute-strength of the Blush Nocturnal, and the Nu Sensuelle Point Plus to be too much and perhaps, even to blame for causing painful overstimulation.
Now, don’t get me wrong, the Bougie Bullet offers an express class of rumble. Only the hard aluminum shell muffles the potency of these vibrations. The category of vibrations it produces puts me in mind of the vibrations generated by (other favorites of mine,) the We-Vibe Touch, The Crave Flex, or any of Je Joue’s Bullet Trio. All of these are toys I thoroughly enjoy and highly recommend. Just be forewarned, all are on the softer side of the vibrational spectrum and not suitable for all of you diehard “Power Fiends” out there. More simply put, they are strong toys, while simultaneously feeling subdued. With regards to the Bougie Bullet specifically, the diffusion results from the vibrations being filtered through a rigid aluminum casing.
I won’t argue the point, the FemmeFunn Bougie Bullet is a bit of a splurge, to be sure. However, as long as you are okay with a softer, more diffuse sort of vibration, I think you’ll be happy with its performance. And if by chance, your name is Fiona Fox, Fin Foster, Faith Fletcher or some other variant with a first-letter double F, then I’d say it’s a must buy.
