Nothing is more soul-crushing than a toy I was convinced I was going to adore, turning out to be is just plain “blah.” Or worse still, incapable of yielding me with one measly orgasm.

Forgive me, if perhaps, I was too easily beguiled by what I saw as the Volita’s potential to be a cheaper, travel-friendly alternative to one of my favorites. Yes, I’m pointing toward Fun Factory’s oddly shaped, duck-billed vibrator. Their pricey powerhouse of a vibrator named the Volta.

Fun Factory Volita

Earlier this year, I became instantly addicted to the Volta’s unusually delicate, yet ultra-intense style of pinpoint stimulation. You see, with the Volta’s robust motor propelling its supple, twin tapered tips, the undulating waves of energy manifest into a distinctive flickering motion.

And damn it, with my clit snug as a bug, encircled-between the two tips, this strange fluttering motion transforms into synchronized lapping.

I thought the Volta’s tips to be an incredible innovation and besides, its methods embodied a total 180° turn from my traditional means of masturbation. Ye olde faithful: Grinding a rumbly vibrator laboriously upon my clit. Sometimes past the point of tenderness, into full-fledged bruising.

You’re My Obsession

So, basically, the Volta was a nice change of pace. A breath of fresh air, you could say. I suppose there’s no shame in admitting I became entirely and unabashedly obsessed with it.

For me, discovering a funky new toy, with such a unique twist was quite the trip. One I’d hoped to relive with the Volita.

Speaking of “baby” Volita. It’s what I’d describe as a heavily distilled version of its bigger sibling, the Volta. The Volita is 6.3-inches long and only 1.22-inches in diameter. So it’s an obvious choice as a take-along or travel toy.

Oh, and by the way, I’m sorry for any confusion, surrounding the names of these two toys. Just a single letter distinguishes them from one another. Is it any wonder I associated them with being very similar animals? Turns out I couldn’t have been more wrong.

The Volta is a fancy-schmancy top-tier vibrator and the Volita is a humble little “bare-bones” type of toy. It features the old-school battery cap, twist-on, and twist-off methods of control. It’s either on or off; there is no in-between.

Fun Factory Volita

Keeping with the established theme of minimalism, the Volita is an uncomplicated, single-speed vibrator. One that’s powered by a lone AA battery and it is fully waterproof. Nevertheless, should you choose to purchase it, I urge you to exercise extreme caution if using it while it in water. This is because the battery cap is easily dislodged by twisting the cap in the same direction used to power the toy on.

As I hinted to earlier, I was horrendously mistaken, about how alike the Volta and Volita genuinely are. They are more like quibbling cousins than siblings, more similar in name than anything else.

It was right after popping a battery in and turning it on for the first time, that I realized my mistake. I immediately grew concerned about the watered-down variant of the Volita’s motor.

Not What I’d Bargained For

I’m fully cognizant that cost-effective measures must have been put into practice, to achieve and maintain this low of a price point.

So, I understand the justification for downgrading the motor.Fun Factory Volita

Nevertheless, with the loss of a deep reservoir of power, one supplied by a decently powered motor, the Volita’s tapered tips, become tantamount to wet noodles. They lack stiffness and remain mostly limp. Thus, they are entirely incapable of transferring a sufficient amount of energy or vibration.

My frustrations continued to mount when I realized the buzzy, onboard motor fails miserably to animate the dual tips when any force is applied to them. The motor doesn’t generate anywhere near enough power to supply the tips with any real substance. And unfortunately for me, some sort of rigidity is required to transfer the vibrations to where I needed them. That being my persnickety little, clit of course.

But alas, they remain flimsy and collapse, and are thoroughly incapable of executing the ultra-targeted sensations, I’d been anxiously anticipating.

It’s A Flop

What this essentially means is the toy’s sole innovation or its “hook,” the flickering tips, are ultimately rendered ineffective. The buzzy vibrations are watered-down, and the flickering tips remain inert and utterly useless.

And without the novelty of the fluttering tips, the Volita is suddenly transformed back into an ordinary run-of-the-mill, dime a dozen vibrator. A not-so-good one, at that.

In this reverted state, it fails to bring me within a country mile of a legitimate orgasm.

Fun Factory Volita

So, what I’d calculated as practically a shoo-in for an affordable replacement for the Volta, turns out not to be after all. Damn it! This sucks, y’all.

While I’m ever hesitant to employ terms like “newbie” or similar designations, the only instance I can possibly foresee my recommending the Fun Factory Volita would be to someone as an entry-level toy. In this particular capacity, serving as a starter vibrator, it may have its purpose, but even then, I’m not so sure.

It could also conceivably be a valid alternative for someone who recognizes they favor a much more subdued, buzzier type vibrator.

But for those of you, like me, who have identified your demand for raw, unbridled power, I must sadly steer you clear of this one. I’m afraid you’d be just as disappointed in the Volita’s performance as I am.
