I’m always down to try the newest ones. YouTube Beauty Gurus are forever on the hunt for the next big one. And the online makeup world is replete with endless “Top Ten Lists” of them. What am I referring to, you ask? Dupes, of course! For those unfamiliar with this newly coined terminology, “dupe” is simply short for duplicate. It is a slang term for a cheaper version of an expensive higher-end product. Ones that are ordinarily highly sought after within a community and highly acclaimed.
If the dupe is a reliable enough replica then, in theory, it should offer the user with about the same results as the original does. Granted, a dupe is typically slightly less impressive than the luxury product it’s trying to imitate. However, it should perform close enough to the real product to be considered interchangeable with the pricier version.
For example, if I were given a choice between a drug store lipliner for hmm… let’s say, around three dollars or a nearly identical one from a high-end brand for twenty-five dollars, (and remember, they’re going to do literally the same thing,) I think you know which one I’m going to buy.
It almost goes without saying. Hands down, no contest, I’m saving my hard earned moolah. Ain’t no shame in being thrifty.
So when Blush Novelties debuted a new, bullet vibe that looks strikingly familiar to my much-lauded fave, the gold standard of bullet vibes, the We-Vibe Tango. I had to try it for myself. This warranted a hands-on, in-person comparison. This was a case, where I trusted almost no one else’s opinion but my own.
At first glance, these two bullet vibes are near perfect doubles. They have the same shape. Both have been manufactured from hard, abs plastic. Each is rechargeable via a magnetic charging cable, and both are considered waterproof.
The most glaring differences between the Nocturnal Bullet and the Tango are their dimensions. The Nocturnal Bullet easily the bigger of the two, coming in at 4-inches long, and .87-inches across. It also, has a dual-button method of control, where the Tango, has a simple, single button.
Okay, I’m gonna go ahead and call it. The Blush Novelties Nocturnal Bullet is a clearcut, viable Tango dupe.
It is safe to say the Nocturnal is a near flawless replica. Dare I say it? And it’s, perhaps, a bit stronger. There, I said it. Actually, it’s quite a bit stronger.
I honestly never dreamed those words would ever leave my mouth.
I’m just as floored by that declaration as you presumably are, but I can no longer deny that Blush Novelties managed to assemble a bullet vibe that is on par with my all-time favorite bullet vibe. My yardstick to measure all others smaller vibrators against. The almighty, teeth-rattlingly powerful, We-Vibe Tango. My beloved vibrator, that I thought none other could ever compare.
I can’t knock the Nocturnal’s claim to fame. More specifically it is marketed as the strongest bullet on the market. However, in my (only slightly biased) opinion, the Tango still manages to edge the Nocturnal Bullet out in their head to head overall performances, but only by mere millimeters. Just by the skin of its non-existent teeth.
And this is only because it yet maintains the upper hand when it comes to owning profoundly penetrating, rumbly vibrations.
Blush’s claim, though valid, winds up being a double-edged sword. I noticed that after the first couple speeds, the Nocturnal Bullet starts veering dangerously close to crossing into buzzy (but powerful) vibrations territory. Not that that is always going to be a deal breaker, but for me, it typically is.
So I’m saying, yes, the Nocturnal’s ten power settings blow the Tango’s strength out of the water. Yet, the Tango edges the Nocturnal out when it comes to rumble.
The problem I keep running into within the upper range of the Nocturnal’s steady vibes, is the vibrations are just so freaking intense and bone-jarring that my clit becomes obliterated into near numbness. This problem is something I’d never experienced with the Tango, but I have encountered with higher-powered, full-size wands.
My greatest criticism of the Nocturnal Bullet is the dodgy magnetic charging system. Funnily enough, this is another feature it shares with the Tango. As much as I adore my Tango, I’ve made no bones about my dissatisfaction with the unreliable and easily dislodged magnetic charging port.
But here’s the good news, folks. As I discovered with the Tango, there is an easy workaround. All you need to do is simply hang the Nocturnal upside down from its charging cord. This particular arrangement creates a superior and much more reliable bond between the toy and the magnetic port.
As I continued to make my comparisons, I couldn’t help but think, what if I’d never tried the Tango? Would I find myself singing the praises of the Nocturnal, in place of my number one go to, the Tango? I think it’s highly likely. So I admit I may be a little biased toward my Tango, clinging to it like a longtime friend. Which I know is totally unfair to the Nocturnal.
So in summary, the Blush Nocturnal Bullet is an astonishingly potent little toy. Sold at an amazingly affordable price. And as a blogger who preaches the necessity for safe, affordable sex toys, I’m thrilled that there is now a dupe for the pricier Tango.
I truly believe, if we’re ever going to see body-safe sex toys become mainstream, we’re going have to see them priced at sensible prices. With options like the Nocturnal Bullet, we are well on our way. And this my friends, makes me smile.
