Up until the release of Blush Novelties new Avant series, I would not have dreamt of purchasing a vivid, multi-colored dildo with razor-sharp stripes for under $60. These are what I’ve always thought of as top-shelf toys, and the Mom & Pop Artisan companies who are willing to sacrifice the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into making such gorgeously complex toys are in short supply.

From what I understand, manufacturing toys of this caliber can be extremely time-consuming and labor intensive. Due to their having to be hand poured in very small numbered batches.

So, naturally, per the laws of supply and demand, they have historically always been priced accordingly. Or, more specifically, at a higher price than most mono-colored silicone dildos.

Then, what do you know? Along comes Blush Novelties with their magnificent, harlequin hued, Avant line, to blow all of my preconceived notions straight out of the water.

Leave it to Blush Novelties, the sex toy manufacturer, best known for producing quality made, yet, affordably priced sex toys, to find a way to mass produce gorgeous, tightly striped dildos, of every color. And miraculously, manage to carry out this feat, in such a cost-efficient manner, that the dildos can be priced low enough for any entry-level toy buyer to now be able to afford a vibrant, candy-colored dildo of their dreams.

I think that deserves a round of applause. Don’t you? Bravo, Blush Novelties, bravo! Well done.

Forgive the cliché, but Blush Novelties legitimately seems to have their “finger on the pulse” of what the average, mainstream sex toy buyer wants to see hit the market.

More Bang for your Buck

Speaking as someone who’s intimately familiar with the heart-wrenching struggles and difficult decisions that accompany living on a tight budget, the introduction of this line makes my heart sing. I’ve tasted the bitter pill of having to choose necessity over recreation and fun far too many times to count. So if you want my honest opinion, Blush is doing the Lord’s work.

Even, after having it in my possession for several weeks now, I’m still captivated by the Hot n’ Cold color palette of the Avant D1. The bold bands of hyper-pigmented purple, yellow, pink, and blues, practically scream fun! Lending it an air of light-hearted playfulness that is hard to find in most dildos.

Like, I honestly can’t express to you how clean the lines on these colors are. They have superbly clean edges. I can’t find any evidence of one color bleeding into the next and believe me, I’ve looked. Instead, there is only a very defined, clean break, at the end and beginning of each new color block.

It boggles my mind to try and envision how this is even possible. Particularly, with regards to a dildo that we all know was produced on a massive scale. This high-level of attention being paid to detail could also explain why the Avant line is one of the higher priced ones of Blush Novelties’ toy lines in recent memory.

Forbidden Fruit

You may or may not know this, but the Avant D1 is a revamp of the Real Nude Helio. A dildo from Blush Novelties, dual-density line, the Real Nude series, but it’s one-hundred percent new to me. Actually, it’s a whole new silhouette for my toy collection.

As you likely have already noticed, time and time again, I find myself gravitating to dildos with girthier heads, and that puts the Avant D1 well within the perimeter of this particular personal preference. Nonetheless, there are other features that make it wholly unique to my toy collection. Notably, those being both its serpentine-shaped head and its subtle, downturned curvature. Up until now, all of my dildos have either been arrow straight, or upturned, but never downturned.

What is not unique or different about the Avant D1, however, is its size. Measuring in at an average 6-inches of insertable length, or 7.5-inches of overall length, along with being 1.5 diameters, makes it a very commonly sized dildo.

Of course, you know me, I can’t help but, wish that it were just a tad chunkier.

Oh, and by the way, the silicone used in the creation of the Avant series feels like a velvety brushed satin. Unfortunately, like most silicone, it’s prone to collect pet fur and dust particles. (Almost like a magnet.) As for the silicone’s softness, it feels very similar to the shore used in making the Magic Stick from Blush’s Ruse line. Only this silicone has a matte finish, as opposed to the Magic Stick’s glossy finish.

Too Good To Be True?

It’s plain to see that the Avant D1 is truly a gorgeous dildo, but, as we all know, looks are not everything. I honestly can’t say the Avant D1 is an all-time favorite silhouette of mine. However, I will admit, that I prefer using it more when it’s positioned in an “upside-down” configuration.

Despite digging the pleasant fullness of the D1’s thicker head, unfortunately, the downward turned slope of this dildo’s shaft does absolutely nothing for me. And more specifically, it does nothing for my G-Spot, either. I constantly find myself annoyed by the toy repeatedly slipping and flipping over sideways during my thrusting. Which makes it difficult for me to find and keep up a preferred depth and speed.

So like a like frown, I decided to turn that dildo upside down, and it worked. Problem solved. I discovered this is a much more pleasurable way for me to use this specific dildo. It positions the head of the D1 in a way that forces it to make better contact with my G-spot. And as an added bonus, the dildo remains much more stable. I don’t have to constantly fumble, fidget, and fight to keep it in the ideal position. I can thrust away to my little heart’s content.

Still, I just can’t help but wish it had a little more girth or a deeper curve.

Really, this dildo would be better suited for someone who prefers a small to average diameter dildo. It just isn’t filling enough for me and my tastes and unfortunately, it lacks a deeply curved angle to make up for it.

Oh, well, I still think it’s still a great toy.
