I guess you could say I’ve been infatuated with the Mimic Plus since the first generation’s release a couple of years back. As you know, the first-generation Mimic has broken more than its fair share of hearts during the span of those two short years.

The first-gen Mimic’s sophisticated design enticed a lot of wide-eyed, overly trusting souls. Only for many of them to be left disillusioned by the toy’s abysmal performance.

If It Weren’t For You Meddling Kids!

The first-generation Mimic was essentially canceled. Sex toy reviewers unabashedly voiced their disdain for the first-gen’s subpar motor, and rightly so. They ripped it to shreds, practically annihilating for its inferior motor and for having the audacity to cause them to squander precious moments of their life on its feeble-ass vibrations.

I’m loathed to admit it, but the old cliche “It’s what’s on the inside that counts most” isn’t merely a cliche in the world of vibrators. It’s simply a cold hard fact — a vibrator’s internal components affect its overall performance, just as much as the external shape. If not, more so.

But even with all the harsh criticism circulating the internet, I’ve still spent the last couple of years secretly pining for my chance to try one. In doing so, I was foolishly ignoring the warnings of several of my trusted friends and contemporaries.

Heartbreaker? Or Dreammaker?

But just like the ripped jean wearin’, cigarette-smokin’ bad boys I invariably went for back in high school. I’m wasn’t about to allow a few unflattering “rumors” to scare me off.

My smoldering crush for the Mimic was once again reignited at the ANME Founders Expo. My clit’s own adaption of “Spidey Sense” began tingling the second the Clandestine Device’s rep dropped a powered-on Mimic Plus tester in my hand.

Sleek, sexy, and modern, the Mimic Plus is a new and improved version of the first-gen Mimic. Commendably so, Clandestine Devices heeded all the negative feedback they received and went back to the drawing board. Kudos to them for their willingness to hear their customers’ complaints.

The Mimic Plus was designed to address all of the problems buyers confronted with the first-generation Mimic. Adjustments include a slight increase in size, which permits the Plus to accommodate a larger battery. And the single thing I’m most concerned with, it incorporates an upgraded and overhauled motor.

Me And My Meddlesome Clit Will Be The Judge Of That!

Needless to say, I’m am just as fascinated with Mimic Plus’s organic, Manta-Ray form, now, as ever. The dual convexed, three-sided shape, allows for plenty of versatility. It’s a configuration theoretically suited for either pinpoint stimulation or broad stimulation — whichever be your preference. A versatile feature that is a true rarity among smaller vibes.

I’m happy to report the upgraded motor has a more than ample amount of mild to moderate rumble. Although seeing as who I am, I could always stand to use a bit more. My biggest complaint is they’re not profoundly penetrative.

Still, they’re far superior to the worst offenders out there; those vibes with buzzy, itch-inducing vibrations. Which, if you’ll remember, was the most severe indictment lodged against the Mimic Plus’s predecessor.

Each of the Plus’s three wings has some measure of flexibility. The east to west sides being the most pliant. Whereas the central point, or the apex, is a bit more rigid. Thus, why it is the tip that I find most suitable for my preferred cockail of pressure mixed with highly targeted stimulation.

It’s an excellent substitute for anyone who appreciates rigid, pinpoint stimulation reminiscent of the variety offered by the tip of a fingernail, or a hard plastic bullet vibe. *slowing scans the room around while raising hand* That’s me, guilty as charged!

Unfortunately, I didn’t fair as well when using the broadside of the toy. Not that I expected anything otherwise. When I held it in this position, flush against my vulva, the vibrations failed to breach my puffy outer labia, unable to target my buried clit. But even with my outer lips spread apart and my clit exposed, they still felt far too diffuse and subdued. I notice the vibrations feel more intense and focused when I use the central tip.

Perhaps, it’s the thick layer of silicone that is swallowing up the lion’s share of the vibrations potency and preventing them from reaching their target destination?

Seeing as to how broad stimulation is not really my cup of tea, I’m doubtlessly not the best judge of the Mimic Plus’s performance in this arena. I do, however, know of at least one not-so-easily-convinced reviewer who prefers broad stimulation that has given the Mimic Plus their official stamp of approval. Which bodes well for all of you broad stim lovers out there.

The Verdict’s In!

Now that I’m tried the Mimic Plus, I’m sort of glad I missed out on the debacle of the first-generation. With that said, I’d consider the Mimic Plus a solid choice for any of you who enjoy a highly targeted stimulation, paired with mild to moderately powerful vibrations.
